Central Districts Hockey is the govering arm of the Central Regions national franchise teams in the National Hockey League (NHL). The CD franchise teams include a senior Womens team (The Central Mysticks), a senior mens team (The Central Mavericks) and a Mens and Womens U21 team.
The NHL is Hockey New Zealands premier domestic competition and takes place at venues throughout New Zealand across four weeks in September and October. The NHL brings together our very best hockey players to represent one of 8 main regions in a competition for the ultimate goal of national supremacy.
Due to the Olympic Games committments this year, the competition will be a one off tournament to be held in Auckland in September.
Central Hockey plays a significant role in supplying some of New Zealands most talented players and currently is the home of seven current Black Stick players who are all Beijing Bound in 2008!
Tim Wilson and Shea McAleese are current Mavericks representing New Zealand with Mysticks Kayla Sharland, Emily Naylor, Caryn Paewai, Tara Drysdale and Anita Wawatai all members of the Womens Blacksticks!
